I know you all love hearing the mishaps and dramas of appointment days at our house. It never seems to fail that there is some sort of commotion, debacle or hi jinx when we set about trekking to the pediatricians office, WIC, the midwife's, or any other type of appointment. And, today was no different. Our sweet Mia turned two months old on the 16th. We had her two month well baby checkup scheduled for today, along with Bree's exczema re-check. Getting there was quite an ordeal. I was running late.I woke up late. I dropped off Emanuel at basketball camp and picked up Drew. I bathed all the little ones, dressed them and fixed hair. Lost a bit of time when Alexandria and Sydney decided they wanted frilly, curly ribbon barrettes instead of headbands and needed a hair re-do. But they looked so cute I couldn't help myself.
By the time I left for my appointment I was just barely running on time...just barely. And I had to stop for gas. Suddenly remembering that Brandon had never given a urine sample to follow up on the protein and blood in his urine, I quickly snatched him up to come with me, and sent Drew to grab my sunglasses off my dresser- and we were off.
At the gas station, I set up the little clippy thing that holds the nozzle in so you can have your hands free- hey, I needed to put my own hair up still. With my mind racing about 50 million different things, I pulled the nozzle out, without releasing the clippy-hold-the-nozzle-in-place thingy and gas continued to pour forth. All over the ground. All over my pants. I was soaked.
Knowing I couldn't be late, I briefly considered just heading on in to the pediatrician's office and apologizing for my overpowering odor but quickly reconsidered given that I was now highly flammable.
I rushed in the house, yelling at Albert and the kids that I'd just spilled gasoline all over myself. Intrigued, my sweet hubby asked if anyone had a match. I changed my jeans and called the pediatrician's office to tell them that I was on my way but that I might be ten or fifteen minutes late.
"Well," said the receptionist, disapprovingly, "If you are more than fifteen minutes late, you'll have to reschedule."
Great. Thanks a lot. A quick glance at the clock told me If I left RIGHT THAT MINUTE then I MIGHT make it within the fifteen minute grace period. Maybe. So I darted out the door, right then, still smelling no so subtly of gasoline.
I made it thirteen minutes late. Two minutes to spare!
Kambree's exczema is getting better. The thing is, it gets worse then better all on its own- with no rhyme or reason, even on the medicine. The only difference is, without the medicine- it gets worse and then stabilizes, but never gets better- so the meds are a must.
Mia weighed 11 pounds 10 ounces and was 23 inches long, although I'm pretty sure she was over measured. The nurse drew the line above her head pretty generously. I'd say she's probably about 22 1/2 inches.
So our appointment itself was fairly uneventful. It was the preparation and getting there that created the stress.
When we got home, I couldn't help snapping a billion pictures of Mia in her orange outfit. It's so cute, I love it. I posted a few of them for you all to see. Plus a pic of her on the day she turned two months old with her little sign. Such a fun tradition that I copied from a couple of the much more creative mommies in my online playroom. Enjoy!

How did you do that? Getting the top to change all that time? Never seen that before. That's really neat!
Praying!
Isaiah 25:8-9: He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

OMGosh! Mia is just adorable!
Is she the first you have marked each month with a photo? (I think I did E&W's monthly photos until they turned 2. LOVED marking each month! Fun)
