The Truency Board!

Brandon is all better and back at school! He finished his 5 days of IV Rocephin (also called Cephtriaxine...probably not spelled right LOL). He happily was able to shower, get dressed and go to school....now we can all imagine the amount of makeup work he'll bring home today.
Hilariously, the school sent a letter stating that Brandon has three or more (he had four) unexcused absences in a row last week. (Um...yeah...he was sick the whole week. Monday was a holiday so it didn't count). Now, the school knows darn well why he was sick. I called them at least two or three times throughout the week. He has a 504 plan in place at school so obviously it's clear that he has something....yet still the school sent us a letter claiming we'll have to go before the truency board for future unexcused absences. What the heck?
Never fear, dear readers...Dr. Rob will be penning the requested "dr.'s note" and faxing it over. Dr. Rob is a christain gentleman so I'm sure it will be polite and well mannered. Here is what I wish I could write instead:
DEAR PRINCIPLE,
BRANDON WAS ABSENT BECAUSE HE WAS SICK. HE WAS, IN FACT, SICK ENOUGH TO REQUIRE THE ADMINISTRATION OF IV MEDICATION FOR 5 DAYS. I DID NOT FEEL IT WAS APPROPRIATE TO SEND HIM TO SCHOOL BOTH WITH A FEVER, AND A NEEDLE HANGING FROM HIS CHEST SECURED ONLY WITH A LARGE PIECE OF TAPE. I'M CONFIDENT HIS TEACHER WOULD AGREE THAT 24 CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND AND ONE WEARING A SHARP NEEDLE WOULD BE MOST UNDESIREABLE. PLUS, I THINK IT VIOLATES THE WEAPONS POLICY.
AS YOU KNOW, BRANDON IS ON A 504 PLAN THIS YEAR. AND LAST YEAR. AND POSSILBY THE YEAR BEFORE THAT. THUS IT SHOULD BE RELATIVELY CLEAR BY THE NATURE OF THIS PLAN, THAT HE HAS A HEALTH IMPAIRMENT. THAT SHOULD HAVE LED TO THE FURTHER CONCLUSION THAT PERHAPS A FOUR DAY ABSENCE WOULD PROBABLY BE DUE TO SAID IMPAIRMENT. OBVIOUSLY, SINCE THE OTHER LITTLE FONTENOT BOYS WERE IN CLASS, WE WEREN'T ON VACATION! REST ASSURED, I DO NOT KEEP MY SON HOME FROM SCHOOL FOR SPORT AND PLEASE DO NOT THREATEN US WITH THE TRUENCY BOARD AGAIN.
